Incredible place in Launceston. Great food, plenty of options for vegetarian and gluten free too. Value for money. And a fun way to have Japanese cuisine with a train inspired delivery experience. Team friendly too! The chicken karrage was the best!
Totally unassuming from outside, however DO NOT miss this Japanese gem! The food is fresh, fast and delicious! Tuna Tatami and Mochi were amazing. Reasonable prices, cute interior and polite Japanese service. Order on the iPad and your food is delivered by a 'train'! Loved it!
You would walk right past Kosaten and not realise it even exists! Do yourself a favour and stop in here for lunch or dinner. Shame they don’t do ramen for dinner unlike traditional Japanese but that didn’t stop me from ordering a lot of dishes! The dishes were fresh, you could clearly see they take a lot of pride in their presentation, definitely recommend! The choc roll and ice cream was a winner desert!

We visited Kosaten recently. The staff showed us to our table with iced cold water, which was a nice touch. Ordering is done through an iPad at the table, so there wasn’t much interaction with staff. The food arrived quickly on a little train, which was quite fun and fancy for Launceston. We ordered quite a variety of dishes. The sashimi was alright and the rice was cooked perfectly. The salads were fresh, with crunchy beans and a tasty sesame dressing. The seafood on top of the steamed egg was nice, although the egg itself was quite runny and only lukewarm. Some dishes were less enjoyable for us. The fried octopus had a very hard coating, and the soft shell crab felt mostly like batter with not much crab inside. The grilled fish and edamame were average. We were also surprised there weren’t any small dishes for soy sauce, so we had to pour it directly onto the sashimi plate. The menu options felt a bit limited, and after a few rounds we struggled to find more things we wanted to order, so we ended up ordering extra rice to fill up. Overall, it was an okay experience for Launceston.
