Our children have been studying at the Florida Institute of Music for about a year, and we truly couldn’t have wished for better teachers. Jimi, the drum's teacher and founder of the school, has managed to inspire a real love for music and discipline in practice. He explains even the most complex things in an easy-to-understand way, keeps lessons fun and engaging, and always encourages progress with patience and positivity. His energy and sense of humor make every class something our kid look forward to. Jimi is an outstanding professional and a truly passionate teacher. Andrea, the vocal coach, has helped our daughter open up, overcome stage fright, and gain confidence both on the microphone and within herself. Her lessons have taught her to use her voice freely and explore different vocal techniques. Andrea is not only extremely talented with a beautiful voice of her own but also incredibly attentive in choosing songs that perfectly help our daughter to grow. She is warm, inspiring, and a true artist at heart. We’re deeply grateful to both Jimi and Andrea for their dedication, talent, and ability to make learning music such a joyful and motivating experience!

We are very happy to find this place. The teachers are professional, nice and welcoming. Our daughter just started to take guitar lessons here, and she’s loving it. We would definitely recommend this music school, if you are looking for local in-person classes.

I was a student of Jimi’s starting back in the late ‘90s, at his school, The Colorado Drum Institute. On my first of many lessons with him, I walked in and was greeted by Jimi, big genuine smile and enthusiasm all over! Being a great drummer (or any other professional) doesn’t guarantee being a great teacher. But Jimi is an exception- he is both, with an extra helping of Genuine Good Guy. He was able to teach me things that I don’t know if any other teacher could, and he was (and still is) one of the greatest drummers that I’ve ever been within a hundred yards of. Jimi has been one of my favorite friends for over thirty years, and will always be!

Set up drum lessons for our son who is on the spectrum. Jimi has been an absolute amazing tutor for him, very patient and instructive. I would highly recommend him and the school!

Our four daughters take piano lessons from Phil at Florida Institute of Music. He's a great teacher with excitement and enthusiasm. He's done an excellent job in helping them continually improve and enjoy piano playing.
