What an amazing place. From the moment we walked through the front door, we were just overwhelmed with the outstanding attention to detail in keeping with the period of the day it was built. The warm welcome started a wonderful stay, and from there, it felt like home....although there is no way my wife and I would never be able to afford to buy a place this magical. So, from now on, every time we stay in Bendigo, it will be here because it is excellent value for what you get. Highly recommended!
Lovely hotel with very good service. So easy to book, too! Room was well appointed and I really admired the commitment to preserving the heritage of the building and part of the history of Bendigo itself. It is a lovely point of difference. I especially enjoyed my morning coffee on the veranda and my delightful room key which was both whimsical and utilitarian - a difficult combination to get right!
High Tea and a tour. What an afternoon! Interesting bits of history provided. 3 songs played on their pipe organ, with a lovely sound. Delicious afternoon tea. Vegetarian option was good. A few older tour participants struggled with steps and couldn't join us upstairs.
The main reception room is lovely - fireplace not working due to insurance issues - our actual upstairs room was small - suggest built in cabinetry - to tidy up all the clutter - also would suggest in line with the price point - the table and chair room arrangement upstairs have a simple continental breakfast on offer for guests - cereal - slices of bread and toaster and microwave - seems like a wasted room without it - would not cost much - considering the property is way out of Bendigo central - and nothing around. Bedding was great - double bed with good warm bedding - bathroom products, room condiments average - towel warmer/dryer great - pleasant experience, however not enough value for the price.
Beautiful place to stay taking you back in time. A lot of precious antiques and matching decorations. Rooms spacious but lacking facility to make tea or coffee as the equipment is ancient too.
